Recently I got the chance to spend a day at Barrique Barrel writing and drawing all over beer and wine coolers. Here’s the aftermath.
Alaskan Salmon Illustrations
This was a commissioned project for a series of salmon in their spawning colors. I researched the three most colorful species, the Coho, Sockeye, and Chinook and experimented with how to render them using a mixture of ink, graphite, and watercolor. I wanted to keep them as realistic as possible, while also highlighting the extreme differences between species. If you have a look at photos of these fish at the end of their life cycle during spawning, you can see exactly how brilliant their colors can be. Overall, a pretty challenging project, but a lot of fun, too.
Scrumpyfest 2012
Some local business owners in my area (St. Johns, Portland, OR) decided to get the neighborhood together for a fun and free event that would put to use the abundance of apples from the trees in our North Portland yards. I put together a poster and t-shirt design that incorporated a rustic woodcut look, reflecting the style of the apple presses at the event.
Poindexter Endurance Project Website
Gleb Velikanov is an avid outdoorsperson, health and fitness aficionado, marathoner, and all-around gentleman. He regularly performs feats of endurance I cannot even fathom attempting. And he does them all over the world. I helped him update his WordPress theme to better showcase his activities and travels. See it live.

Dan & Megan’s Wedding Map
This was a fun little project for some great friends that tied the knot in October 2011. They needed a simple map that showed the way from hotel to wedding venue in a style that matched their Pacific Northwest infused celebration.
Travis & Lizy over at Scribble Tone put together the design for the excellent couple’s invitations. Katie and her dad letter-pressed ‘em up! Seriously, this wedding was a blast and it’s really quite obvious how cool these two are that they had so many friends so excited to help with all the details.
